The Journeyman I will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to steel erection, fabrication, and installation, including structural steel assembly, welding, and rigging. • Assist with layout, assembly, and installation of structural steel components according to project plans and specs.
• Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and rigging gear to position and secure steel elements, ensuring proper alignment and fit.

• Perform welding and cutting operations, including stick welding, MIG welding, and oxyacetylene cutting, to fabricate and repair steel components.
• Interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and shop drawings to ensure accuracy and quality of welds and fabrications.

• Assist with rigging and hoisting operations to lift and position steel components using cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment, following safety procedures.
• Inspect rigging equipment and hardware for wear or damage and report issues to supervisor.

• Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training; report hazards or incidents immediately.

• Perform visual inspections checking fit, alignment, and weld quality; adjust or repair as needed.
• Assist with quality control inspections and testing, ensuring compliance with specs and industry standards.

• Work collaboratively with crew, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely completion.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, foremen, and project managers for updates and concerns.

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or equivalent on‑job training in iron working.
• Minimum of 2–3 years experience in structural steel erection and welding.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
• Proficiency in reading plans, blueprints, welding symbols, and technical skills in fabrication, welding, and rigging.
• Knowledge of safety regulations related to steel erection and construction.
• Ability to work at heights and in varied weather conditions.
