Family Engagement Facilitator (FEF)
The Family Engagement Facilitator (FEF) is a certified, school-based professional who serves as the primary liaison between home, school, and community. The position supports the implementation of the Family & Community Solutions Team (FCST) framework by strengthening family engagement, improving attendance, supporting positive student behavior, promoting social-emotional learning (SEL), and coordinating wraparound services for students and families.
Working collaboratively with school leadership, counselors, teachers, community agencies, and families, the Family Engagement Facilitator helps identify and address barriers to student success through proactive intervention, care coordination, and family-centered support. The position plays a critical role in improving student outcomes related to attendance, behavior, engagement, school climate, literacy, and numeracy.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Possess or eligible to obtain Alabama certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience working with students, families, schools, or community organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.
- Experience in family engagement, attendance intervention, student support services, case management, counseling, or community outreach.
- Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), restorative practices, trauma-informed practices, and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).
- Experience working in high-needs schools or with diverse student populations.
Serve as the primary school-based liaison between families, the school, and community partners.
Develop and implement family engagement activities that promote student success and strengthen school-home partnerships.
Conduct outreach to families and facilitate meaningful family participation in school initiatives and student support processes.
Monitor attendance data and support interventions designed to reduce chronic absenteeism.
Assist families in identifying and addressing barriers to student attendance and engagement.
Participate in student support meetings and intervention planning processes.
Coordinates and serves as an active member and facilitator of the school-based Family & Community Solutions Team; conducts monthly meetings.
Assist with implementation and monitoring of intervention plans developed through the FCST process.
Coordinate referrals and connections to school and community-based resources and services.
Support students and families through the engagement, planning, implementation, and transition phases of the wraparound process.
Support implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies and restorative practices.
Promote social-emotional learning initiatives and student wellness activities.
Collaborate with school staff to improve school climate, student engagement, and positive behavior outcomes.
Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, agencies, businesses, and service providers.
Coordinate access to resources that support students and families.
Maintain a current inventory of community resources and referral services.
Maintain accurate records of family contacts, interventions, referrals, and services.
Collect and report data related to attendance, family engagement, behavior, and student support outcomes.
Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of school-based engagement and intervention efforts.
Collaborate with administrators, counselors, teachers, instructional leadership teams, and community partners.
Participate in school and district meetings as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Family & Community Solutions Team (FCST).
