Position Vacancy Solid Waste Collections Operator
Montgomery County General Services Division currently has an opening for a Solid Waste Collections Operator.
Routine responsibilities include, but are not limited to: safe operation of a rear loader refuse truck for the collection, loading, compressing, and dumping of refuse, cleaning and inspecting trucks, related equipment, and solid waste containers to determine maintenance or repair needs, prompt completion of required paperwork, use of department software, and maintaining positive relations with customers.
Maintaining route schedules, daily attendance, and punctuality are essential to the position; customary working hours are M – F, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with occasional morning/evening/weekend overtime and on‑call rotation as needed.
Experience is required in operating and driving heavy‑duty trucks and motorized equipment, and in maintaining them. At minimum, a valid Class B Commercial driver’s license with air brake endorsement and a good driving record are required. As a CDL license holder, applicants must understand they are subject to drug & alcohol testing as mandated by DOT guidelines, and a complete criminal history and driving record check/FMCSA registry is required.
