PositionSummary
Under the direction of the Supervisor and Team Leader, the Shuttle Driver will conduct safe, efficient vehicle movement and parking and prepare new factory‑condition vehicles for various stages of logistics processing.
Responsibilities- Drive new finished‑product vehicles to designated locations
- Drive and park vehicles per the Transportation & Handling Manual
- Adhere to schedule or route requirements
- Maintain focus and hand‑eye coordination for safe operation
- Communicate with the Team Leader regarding pickup and drop‑off locations
- Inspect vehicles before driving to ensure they are damage‑free and functional
- Follow all port traffic policies and posted speed limits
- Report unsafe conditions or road hazards to management
- Document mechanical issues or damage and report to management
- Read and understand parking location maps
- Prepare vehicles for various stages of processing
- Perform yard activities as directed
- Check tire pressure with a hand‑held gauge
- Check battery condition with hand‑held equipment
- Move vehicles on/off conveyors
- Remove exterior/interior plastic protective wrap
- Drive vehicles to fueling stations and through automated car washes
- Remove trash from vehicles
- Complete required checklists
- Perform other duties as assigned under the Shuttle Driver role
- Driver, FIL Driver, UBC‑Plant Driver, Shuttle‑Plant‑UBC, Shuttle‑UBC‑Storage, PIO, VPC
- Conveyor Driver, PIO Driver, Van Driver, and other delegated tasks
- Willingness and ability to cross‑train in other departmental needs
- Flexibility with schedule, including break times, extended hours, weekends, and holidays
- Read and write competency
- Follow verbal and written instructions
- Good depth perception and hand‑eye coordination
- Drive both automatic and manual transmission vehicles
- Record and verify 17‑character numeric data
- Demonstrated mechanical abilities
- General knowledge of automobile components
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license without restrictions
- One year of experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in a port‑processing environment preferred
- Drive vehicles
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Carry up to 50 lbs
- Push or pull objects
- Bend, stoop, kneel, squat, and crouch as needed
- Stand for extended periods
This position works in a plant manufacturing/warehouse setting.
- Exposure to loud noises from vehicles and heavy machinery
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions
- Exposure to chemicals and fumes
