Job SummaryThis position is responsible for ensuring that units are moved from point "A" to point "B" in a safe and timely manner, while following all company policies and procedures. In addition, this role leads team members to achieve daily goals.
Responsibilities- Primary
- Move vehicles to their proper location in a safe and efficient manner.
- Effectively lead team members on the bus, providing direction and assistance to meet daily goals.
- Ensure all vehicles moved in the yard are moved safely and on time to correct locations by GLOVIS standards.
- Complete all tasks as instructed by leadership.
- Enforce safety and company policies and procedures.
- Conduct pre‑shift safety and job briefing meetings.
- Ensure team members wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are protected by blue flag signal before working on rail equipment.
- Report all incidents immediately to the department manager and to senior manager, safety manager, or human resource personnel.
- Conduct a hazard assessment of the work area and inform team members of any safety hazards found.
- Secondary
- Only allow team members certified or with documented training to operate equipment (loading ramps, shuttle vans, forklift, golf cart).
- Maintain work areas clean.
- Communicate and work with internal and external customers, supervisors, and peers to accomplish tasks effectively.
- Coordinate and communicate with other van drivers to ensure everyone works toward the same goal.
- Communicate to the supervisor any problems that arise which could hinder meeting the daily goal.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Good interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
- Good driving record.
- Prior leadership experience preferred.
- Valid State‑Issued Driver’s License (required).
- High School Diploma (required).
- Sit, stand, walk, lift up to 15 lbs, drive, bend/stoop, climb, reach above shoulders, kneel, balance, push/pull, squat, crawl, crouch, and jump.
- Works in a plant manufacturing/warehouse setting in Montgomery, AL.
- Potential working at heights and operating loading ramp after training.
- Exposure to loud noises from vehicles and heavy machinery.
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
- Exposure to chemicals and fumes.
