Rail Supervisor

The Rail Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily rail operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and federal regulations. This role provides leadership to field employees, coordinates project activities, monitors productivity, and maintains a strong focus on safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of rail crews and field personnel.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company safety policies and railroad regulations.
- Conduct safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job site inspections.
- Monitor employee attendance, productivity, and performance.
- Coordinate scheduling and manpower needs with project managers and customers.
- Verify employees possess required certifications and credentials before reporting to job sites.
- Maintain accurate records of employee hours, training, and job assignments.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and safety concerns and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Communicate project expectations, timelines, and changes to team members.
- Ensure equipment, tools, and materials are available and maintained properly.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between field employees, customers, and management.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
- Travel to various job sites as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required; additional technical or supervisory training preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in railroad operations, construction, or a related industry.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of railroad safety practices and regulations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and travel assignments as required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile communication applications.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- TWIC Card
- MSHA Training
- 4RA Certification
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to travel and work extended hours when business needs require.
