The Medical‑Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) at Tri Health Bethesda North Hospital is a state‑of‑the‑art critical care environment specializing in complex and high‑acuity patient care. The unit is split into 14 beds for PCU and 28 beds for ICU. Our MSICU is integral to our Level III Trauma Program and Comprehensive Stroke Program, providing cutting‑edge treatments for trauma and stroke patients.

We offer advanced critical care services, including Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) for patients requiring extended dialysis and upcoming care for patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD). We also use Ultrasound‑Guided Peripheral Intravenous (USGPIV) techniques. The unit supports the professional growth of our nurses through a Critical Care Nurse Development Program, offering continuous education and hands‑on experience for those looking to advance their expertise.

• High‑acuity critical care experience in a modern ICU/PCU environment (28 ICU beds + 14 PCU beds).
• Exposure to advanced therapies including CRRT and USGPIV techniques.
• Part of major service lines supporting trauma and stroke patients through specialized programs.
• Professional growth through the Critical Care Nurse Development Program.
• Flexible full‑time, part‑time, and day/night shift options.

• Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients and families; document per unit/Tri Health standards.
• Develop and execute individualized plans of care based on assessment findings, standards, and desired outcomes.
• Deliver safe, holistic care while maintaining patient dignity, autonomy, and rights in a high‑acuity setting.
• Recognize emergent situations and take appropriate action to support timely interventions and patient safety.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and adjust plans as needed.
• Provide patient/family education and document response to care and teaching.
• Support unit excellence by sharing knowledge, serving as a resource, and contributing to ongoing professional development.

Must‑Have

• Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• BLS/CPR (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers).
• New hires must obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
• Strong clinical judgment and nursing knowledge across the life cycle.

Preferred

• Membership in a related professional nursing organization.
• Up to 1 year of clinical nursing experience (critical care experience a plus).
