Position SummaryThe Elementary Computer Lab / ALE Para educator is responsible for supervising and supporting students in the computer lab for grades K–4, assisting with technology-based instruction and digital learning programs, providing support within the Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) classroom during assigned periods, and assisting with academic or behavioral interventions as assigned by administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Computer Lab Responsibilities (K–4)- Supervise and manage the elementary computer lab for students in grades K–4.
- Support students in logging in, navigating programs, and completing assigned digital activities.
- Monitor student behavior and maintain a structured, safe, and positive learning environment.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the computer lab and equipment.
- Reinforce digital citizenship, internet safety, and appropriate technology use.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support instructional goals and student learning.
- Provide support in the ALE classroom during assigned class periods under the direction of the ALE teacher and administration.
- Assist with behavior management, de-escalation strategies, and implementation of behavior intervention plans.
- Support students with academic assignments, social-emotional learning, and classroom routines.
- Help maintain a structured, supportive, and student-centered learning environment.
- Supervise students during transitions and assigned activities.
- Provide academic and/or behavioral interventions to students as assigned.
- Work with small groups or individual students using intervention materials and programs.
- Assist with progress monitoring and documentation as directed by certified staff or administration.
- Support school wide intervention initiatives and student support plans.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
- Demonstrate professionalism in communication and interactions with students, staff, and families.
- Follow district policies, code of ethics, school procedures, and state guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Passed the paraprofessional praxis or 60 hours of college credit.
- Ability to work effectively with elementary-aged students.
- Strong communication, organization, and management skills.
- Basic knowledge of educational technology and computer programs preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Experience working with students with behavioral or academic needs preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist students throughout the school day.
