Maintenance Worker - Allerton Park and Retreat Center
Allerton Park and Retreat Center, in Monticello, IL, is accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker. Under general supervision from a designated supervisor who is responsible for the coordination of necessary work, this position is responsible for the issuance, setup, and inventory of equipment and supplies, as well as for performing maintenance, repairs, and improvements to buildings, grounds, facilities, mechanical and electrical systems, structures, and equipment.
The hours for this position are 11:00 p.m.
- 7:00 a.m. (third shift), Thursday – Monday.
- Repairs and maintains motorized equipment and machinery including but not limited to hydraulics, pumps and motors, vehicles and heavy equipment.
- Pick up materials and tools from vendors.
- Maintains, adjusts, makes minor repairs to, and replaces building hardware.
- Replaces and paints broken window and door glass, with an understanding of cutting and glazing glass.
- Repairs doors, windows, and sash and paints or refinishes.
- Makes repairs to building electrical (low and high voltage), plumbing systems, heating systems, and food service equipment, including fixtures.
- Makes repairs to woodwork, flooring and walls, with an understanding of lumber use, layout work, woodcutting, milling, surfacing, and sealing/finishing/painting surfaces.
- Makes repairs to roofs, flashing, gutters, downspouts, and drains, with an understanding of material use, layout work, cutting, surfacing, and sealing/finishing/painting surfaces.
- Makes repairs to concrete, masonry, and stone structures, with an understanding of material use and sealing/finishing/painting surfaces.
- Repairs, patches, and drywall finishing on walls and ceilings including painting all surfaces interior and exterior all buildings.
- Makes repairs to air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, with an understanding of the proper E.P.A. reclamation procedure, soldering copper lines, and refrigerant properties.
- Maintains shop tools, ladders, and scaffolding and other associated maintenance equipment and tools.
- Maintains operation of locks including lock installation, key making and key inventory.
- Adjust, maintain, and make repairs on laundry and housekeeping equipment.
- Works as part of a team to maintain water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Assists in grounds and natural areas maintenance including but not limited to electrical, lighting, paths, plantings, fencing, roads, parking lots, trails, painting, etc.
- Maintains and repairs all items for all outbuildings including rental properties.
- Set-up tables, chairs, and equipment for events and assist at events.
- Janitorial including trash and debris clearing in and around all buildings, facilities, grounds, rentals and natural areas.
- Perform related duties as assigned and be available for off-shift emergency repairs, including nights weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year (12 months) of work experience in general maintenance.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of general maintenance work.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repairs of houses, buildings, or other structures.
- Skill in performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 4257 - Maintenance Worker position. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The budgeted salary for this position is $58,098.60 ($29.68/hr). Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
