Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for helping to drive cost reduction activities through process improvements to directly impact the overall performance objectives for the company and compliance to AS9100 and NADCAP requirements. This role significantly impacts Rexnord’s ability in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

The position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and supports complex fabrication and assembly projects, implements cost‑saving process improvements, coaches less‑experienced team members, troubleshoots and resolves complex issues, develops sequence of operations, estimates time requirements and prepares operation sheets. The engineer designs and programs CNC equipment, creates capable processes and may be responsible for designing or redesigning plant layouts and providing technical leadership and training to other team members.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize key mechanical design and manufacturing principles (Statics, Dynamics, Mechanical Design, Thermodynamics, Materials and Heat Transfer) to make decisions impacting product quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Reduce scrap and non‑conformances by eliminating waste and variation in all forms.
  • Drive root‑cause corrective actions to reduce non‑conformances.
  • Optimize productivity through efficient, ergonomic, and safe workstation and tooling designs.
  • Remain current in new manufacturing engineering technology, techniques, and equipment.
  • Recommend new approaches where feasible.
  • Lead and participate in Kaizen events based on VSM Roadmaps.
  • Utilize RBS tools to solve problems and continuously improve.
  • Pursue facilitator certifications in specific RBS tools.
  • Promote and facilitate the use and establishment of continuous improvement tools.
  • Assist in developing and implementing lean manufacturing action plans to support strategy deployment and business growth.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist others using problem‑solving tools such as DMAIC.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing cost‑out projects.
  • Assist manufacturing and assembly associates to resolve set‑up, tooling and fixture problems, special processes (heat treatment, plating, welding), and selection of proper tooling and grinding wheels.
  • Develop, maintain and implement process routings and set‑up instructions for the production of parts and assemblies.
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Materials).
  • 2‑5 years of engineering experience in materials, manufacturing, or quality engineering in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and management.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities and project lists.
  • At least one year of experience with grinding, turning, and milling machinery.
  • Strong understanding of key manufacturing principles (Statics, Dynamics, Mechanical Design, Thermodynamics, Materials and Heat Transfer).
  • Ability to extract critical data and analyze data to make informed business decisions.
  • Excellent computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management and a team‑oriented approach.
Additional Requirements
  • CNC programming knowledge.
  • CAD and drafting knowledge.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt (a plus).
  • Travel less than 10%.
  • English language proficiency.
