Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for helping to drive cost reduction activities through process improvements, directly impacting overall performance objectives and compliance with AS9100 and NADCAP requirements. This position significantly impacts Rexnord's ability in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. It reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

Major Responsibilities
  • Utilizes key mechanical design and manufacturing principles, such as Statics, Dynamics, Mechanical Design, Thermodynamics, Materials, and Heat Transfer to effectively make decisions impacting product quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Reduces scrap and non-conformances by eliminating waste and variation in all forms.
  • Drives root cause corrective actions to reduce non-conformances.
  • Optimizes productivity through efficient, ergonomic, and safe workstation and tooling designs.
  • Remains current in new manufacturing engineering technology, techniques, and equipment, recommending new approaches where feasible.
  • Leads and participates in Kaizen events based on VSM Roadmaps.
  • Utilizes RBS tools to solve problems and continuously improve, striving to achieve facilitator certifications in specific RBS tools.
  • Promotes and facilitates the use/establishment of continuous improvement tools.
  • Assists in developing and implementing lean manufacturing action plans to support strategic business growth.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists others in solving problems using problem‑solving tools such as DMAIC.
  • Develops and implements manufacturing cost‑out projects.
  • Assists manufacturing and assembly associates in resolving setup, tooling, and fixture problems, special processes (heat treatment, plating, welding), and selection of proper tooling and grinding wheels.
  • Develops, maintains, and implements process routings and setup instructions for the production of parts and assemblies.
Required Education / Experience / Skills
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Materials).
  • Experience: 2–5 years of engineering experience in Materials, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering within a manufacturing setting.
  • Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills with all levels of employees and management.
    • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, adjusting to changing priorities and project lists.
    • At least one year of experience with grinding, turning, and milling machinery.
    • Strong understanding of key manufacturing principles such as Statics, Dynamics, Mechanical Design, Thermodynamics, Materials, and Heat Transfer.
    • Ability to extract critical data and analyze data to make informed business decisions.
    • Excellent computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.).
    • Demonstrated proficiency in project management.
    • Team orientated with the ability to influence others without authority.
  • Preferred but not required:
    • CNC Programming knowledge.
    • CAD and drafting knowledge.
    • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt a plus.
  • Travel: Less than 10%.
