Job Title
Certified Welding Inspector
Job Summary:
Ensure that all welding processes and completed welds meet strict quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity of our products, uphold quality assurance systems, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality manufacturing operations.
- Conduct thorough visual and dimensional inspections of welded components using precision measuring instruments such as height gauges and vision inspection systems
- Verify that welding procedures adhere to industry standards.
- Review and interpret mechanical blueprints, production documents, and technical specifications to ensure compliance with quality standards in production.
- Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods where applicable to assess weld integrity and detect defects.
- Document inspection results accurately, compile data for quality audits, and generate detailed reports for management review.
- Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions in line with regulatory/legal compliance standards in production.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits, ensuring adherence to ISO standards and quality management systems.
- Certify full-time welders to D1.1by conduction weld test and bend test of the coupons in house.
- Give weld tests to welding applicants before they being hired.
- Develop Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS’s) and weld sequencing plans to ensure weld quality and product quantity.
- Develop Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS’s) and weld sequencing plans for future robotic welding.
- Continuously improving our processes. Proactively find issues and fix them.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Certified Welding Inspector or similar role within a manufacturing environment with a focus on quality assurance (QA/QC)
- Certification from recognized organizations such as AWS (American Welding Society) or equivalent is required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and mechanical blueprint interpretation
- Familiarity with measurement instruments including height gauges, GDT (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and vision inspection systems
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and regulatory/legal compliance standards in production processes
- Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret manufacturing data and identify deviations from quality standards
