Job Description

This position works with elementary students with individual needs that meet the criteria for special education. Responsibilities include providing small group instruction, work completion assistance, and teaming with mainstream teachers. The special education teacher collaborates with other service providers during the day to meet student needs.

License & Experience
  • Licensed Special Education Teacher in the State of Minnesota
  • Knowledge and experience working with students with special education needs
  • Experience working with elementary students and families
  • Knowledge and experience completing due process and follow timeline requirements of special education
  • Experience completing Part B evaluations
  • Must be able to assure and implement state and federal laws, statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to special education
  • Team-oriented approach when working with students, colleagues, families, and administrators
  • Effective communication and teaming skills, both verbally and in writing, with students, parents, teachers, administrators, community and staff
  • Establishes a culture for learning by supporting the mission, beliefs and the strategic plan of the district
  • Inspires and engages all students in relevant learning
  • Maintain confidentiality of information about students, staff and families
  • Experience working with diverse students and families – experience/training with CLR (Culturally Linguistically Responsive) methods preferred
