Monticello is centrally located on Interstate 94, less than 25 mi northwest of Maple Grove and 30 mi southeast of Saint Cloud. The district serves more than 4,000 students annually across five brick‑and‑mortar schools and two nature‑based facilities.
Monticello Public Schools has Education Support Specialist (ESS) positions available throughout the district. The role typically involves 175‑178 workdays per year with most days ranging from 5½ to 8 hours.
Education Support Specialists work directly with students, providing support for IEPs, 504 plans, and classroom instruction. The multi‑categorical ESS position supports functional academics, mainstream classroom activities, outdoor activities, toileting (including diapering), behavior management, self‑care, and other duties necessary to meet student needs. Responsibilities- Establish a culture for learning by supporting the mission, beliefs, and the strategic plan of the district.
- Inspire and engage all students in relevant learning.
- Carry out the IEP goals as designed by the teacher.
- Reinforce classroom instruction by working with students one‑to‑one or in small groups.
- Help students strengthen skills to become more independent.
- Assist the teacher with crisis problems and behavior management; observe, record, and chart behaviors.
- Conferring and planning with teachers to recommend ideas, identify problems, and aid in problem‑solving.
- Help the classroom teacher with recordkeeping of the student’s progress; conduct informal assessments to measure mastery of learned materials as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Maintain confidentiality standards by adhering to the district’s data privacy policy.
- Experience working with diverse students and families.
- Little Mountain Elementary: 33.75 Hours/Week – 6.75 Hours/Day, Monday‑Friday (1:1 position)

22 Hours/Week – 5.5 Hours/Day, Monday‑Thursday (Preschool)
