Job Duties:
The Director of Library will provide leadership in developing and expanding the library services program at UAM; develop, present, and implement the budget to accomplish planned goals; coordinate the Library activities with academic programs in UAM’s schools; hire, supervise and encourage the professional development of library professionals and staff; plan for and establish priorities and policies for the development of collections, and public and technical services.
The Library Director is a member of the Academic Council and reports to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Qualifications: A doctorate degree in library or library information sciences or in a cognate area pertinent to UAM’s program offerings is preferred. An earned master’s degree in library or library informational sciences from an accredited program; three years of higher education library experience is required. The candidate must have highly effective interpersonal skills, a consultative leadership style, and a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, administration, and students.
