Summary ofJob Duties
Primary duties consist of teaching twelve credit hours a semester at the undergraduate level, including Principles of Managerial Accounting and selected upper-level courses in the major such as Cost Accounting, Auditing, Governmental/Nonprofit and Accounting Information Systems. The position may include courses in other business areas on occasion. Principles courses are offered every semester, other courses are scheduled once a year or on a two-year cycle.
Other responsibilities include advising/mentoring students, serving on departmental and university committees, and participating in course and program assessment. Expectations for promotion and tenure include research/scholarly activities appropriate to a teaching-centered School of Business and professional engagement with the business community. Collegiality, professionalism, effective communication skills, and a strong commitment to teaching excellence are necessary. As a member of the business faculty the successful candidate will be an integral part of the School and have the opportunity to shape the accounting and business programs.
A Ph.D. or D.B.A. is strongly preferred. Applicants with a Master’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting will be considered at the instructor level. Experience teaching at the collegiate level and/or professional experience are preferred. CPA licensure or eligibility for licensure with an intent to complete the requirements is preferred for candidates with a Master’s degree. Preference will be given to candidates with previous higher education teaching experience, both online and in-person, and industry experience.
