Key Responsibilities
- Manage full lifecycle ("cradle to grave") execution of facilities, construction, and capital improvement projects.
- Support capital facilities and construction projects at one of its nuclear generating facilities.
- This role delivers upgrades, equipment replacements, building/facility modifications, long term plan development, and other capital improvements.
- Projects typically range from $100K to multi million dollar investment levels and require strict adherence to nuclear, regulatory, and safety protocols.
- This position manages 5-10 concurrent projects, coordinating internal stakeholders, engineering, maintenance, construction, contractors, and vendors while ensuring delivery on scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk management requirements.
- Develop and maintain scopes of work, schedules, budgets, long term project plans, and funding requests.
- Lead project controls activities including cost tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, documentation, and reporting.
- Interface daily with plant stakeholders: engineering, maintenance, operations, supply chain, controls, finance, and leadership.
- Source, contract, manage, and coordinate suppliers and external contractors.
- Prepare and deliver project presentations to leadership, including authorization and funding approvals.
- Conduct field walkdowns and plant observations for risk mitigation, constructability, and issue resolution.
- Support risk management, quality assurance, safety compliance, and nuclear regulatory expectations.
- Primarily onsite at the assigned nuclear facility (Prairie Island or Monticello).
- Rare travel for vendor visits, factory acceptance testing, or RFP activities (reimbursed).
- 5-7 years of facilities, construction, utility, power plant, or commercial nuclear power project management experience.
- Demonstrated success managing projects ≥ $1M.
- Strong financial acumen and experience with project controls and variance analysis.
- Familiarity with PMI/PMBOK (Waterfall/Predictive) methodologies.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Collaborative mindset within a highly supportive, cross functional team environment.
- Problem solving, risk awareness, and disciplined follow through essential for nuclear work.
- Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple active projects.
- Construction or Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Nuclear) from an ABET accredited program.
- Commercial nuclear or utility/power plant experience.
- Experience with SAP, Oracle Unifier, Workday/UKG, MS Project, or Primavera P6.
- PMP certification strongly preferred (not required).

401(k) Plan:
The Synectics Inc. Investment Savings Retirement Plan. Synectics offers all employees who are 21 years of age or older the opportunity to invest in the 401(k) Plan on the first enrollment date that is at least 30 days after employment begins. Enrollment dates are each January 1st, April 1st, July 1st, and October 1st.
Technical Certification Bonus:
Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus.
It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
