Automation & Mechatronics Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer
Mission Hires is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead custom automation initiatives for a precision manufacturing organization serving the medical industry. This on-site role (no hybrid/remote) requires a US Citizen with strong experience in ISO 13485 environments, NPI/prototyping, and custom automated solutions—including packaging—who can drive projects from concept through production while upholding LEAN and medical device compliance standards.
Responsibilities- Research, identify, and apply technologies to automate manufacturing processes
- Design and document new automation equipment and processes
- Develop project proposals and cost estimates for automation projects
- Lead automation projects from concept/feasibility through full production implementation
- Provide work guidance and direction to automation technicians and team members
- Simulate and analyze automation opportunities to validate concepts and ROI
- Create clear, accurate documentation for automation equipment and processes
- Generate reports outlining concepts, testing results, and efficiency gains
- Develop and implement training for programming, maintenance, and setup changes
- Troubleshoot new and existing automated processes and equipment
- Advocate for and implement highest production standards and LEAN principles
- Communicate automation specifications across departments as needed
- Support software qualifications to comply with medical device requirements
- Maintain documentation for engineering and manufacturing process changes
- Travel between sites as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- US Citizenship; on-site role (no hybrid/remote)
- Bachelor’s degree in Automation or Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or Associate’s degree with 8+ years of practical automation experience
- Proven experience designing and selecting complex automation solutions
- Demonstrated success leading automation projects into production
- Strong equipment troubleshooting and debugging capabilities
- Self-starter with a results-driven approach to modernizing manufacturing processes
- Proficient PC skills in Windows (Word, Excel)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities
- Strong market knowledge of available automation equipment
- Ability to travel between sites as needed
