Role Overview
The CAD Draftsman is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining engineering drawings and associated documentation used in the design and manufacture of aluminum boats and related components. This position works closely with Engineering, Production, and Manufacturing to develop accurate, manufacturable designs that support efficient fabrication, assembly, and continuous product improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Develop detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for boat hulls, structures, and components.
- Convert conceptual designs into manufacturing‑ready technical drawings.
- Maintain engineering documentation, revision records, and drawing databases.
- Collaborate with production teams to resolve design or fabrication issues.
- Interpret engineering specifications, sketches, and instructions.
- Assist with prototype development and design improvements.
- Ensure drawings meet industry standards and manufacturing tolerances.
- Support engineering changes and update drawings accordingly.
- Participate in design reviews to improve manufacturability (DFMA) and product quality.
- Support prototype development, testing, and product improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company safety and environmental standards, including RCRA waste management practices where applicable.
- Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Solid Works, or similar).
- Knowledge of aluminum fabrication processes preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Environmental & Regulatory ComplianceThis position performs hazardous waste management activities regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA‑40 CFR 265.16) and Department of Transportation (49 CFR). Tasks include, but are not limited to, the generation, handling, labeling, inspection, and emergency response of hazardous waste:
- Properly identify and characterize hazardous waste generated in assigned work areas.
- Place hazardous waste into approved containers.
- Ensure hazardous waste containers are closed except when adding or removing waste, labeled with the words “Hazardous Waste”.
- Mark containers with appropriate DOT/GHS hazard indicators and their accumulation start dates, ensuring that hazardous waste materials are properly packed.
- Conduct and document hazardous waste container inspections in assigned areas.
- Offer hazardous waste to an approved Treatment & Storage Disposal transportation company.
- Act as Emergency Coordinator or emergency response support personnel.
