Summary

The Die Cast Mold Repair Technician is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and repair of die cast tooling, and equipment while upholding all quality and safety standards. This position supports tooling performance by maintaining tools, diagnosing issues, performing core and pin repairs/replacements, and assisting with equipment setups as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare, inspect, and set up tooling for production.
  • Ensure tooling is qualified and ready for operation.
  • Understand die casting and manufacturing processes and recommend improvements.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and inspection gauges.
  • Produce high-quality parts to specification and assist with identifying root causes and corrective actions for quality concerns.
  • Read and follow work orders and production documentation accurately.
  • Document and communicate tooling changes, actions, or concerns between shifts.
  • Maintain balanced workload by prioritizing tooling setup, production, and maintenance tasks.
  • Perform secondary operations including inventory of core and mold components.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area; follow all safety procedures.
  • Participate in required training and meetings.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two-year machine technology degree or at least two years of machining experience (close-tolerance environments such as milling, turning, grinding preferred).
  • Knowledge of CNC equipment, die cast equipment, and machine maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience using machinist hand tools and precision measurement equipment.
  • Proficient in basic math (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
  • Knowledge of die cast machine setup, loading, and unloading of tooling.
  • Ability to disassemble and reassemble dies, water lines, hydraulics, and replace/polish die components.
  • Understanding of basic GD&T.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with adaptability to changing work demands.
  • Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Familiar with 5S and Lean principles and supports ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Ability to build cooperative, productive working relationships.
  • Willingness to take on new responsibilities and challenges.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • Frequently lift or move up to 40 lbs.
  • Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment and moderate noise.
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals and fumes.
  • Constant standing, walking, reaching, and manual part/tool handling.
  • Frequent repetitive motions.
  • Required use of standard safety equipment (eye protection provided).
