OverviewThe Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking an enthusiastic team player to join us as Motor Vehicle Call Center Agent!
This position will:
- Handle all incoming calls and electronic inquiries with professionalism and efficiency
- Process various applications accurately and swiftly
- Manage fees, audits, and weekly statistics with precision
- Maintain office supplies and ensure everything is in order
- Research and resolve transactions from all DMV offices across Vermont
- Exercise independent judgment within legal guidelines
This position will help you develop your skills in customer service, administration, and data management while working under the guidance of a dedicated Unit Supervisor who supports your growth. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor, excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail, and a commitment to providing top-notch service to our community.
Although the full salary range for this position is provided, new hires are typically made at the salary range minimum.

In accordance with Title 23, Section 102(d), an applicant must agree to be finger-printed and pass a background investigation to be eligible for this position. The background investigation may include criminal, financial and traffic records checks. Hiring managers will notify applicants who are in the final stage of the interview process of the finger-printing and background check requirement, to which an applicant must agree to be deemed eligible for this position.

Incumbents must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure before the public eye/social media, from written, electronic and from telephone inquiries. Due to significant contact from verbal abuse stress induced illness is a daily risk. Incumbents must be able to multi-task and prioritize unpredictable workloads. Employees must be able to deal with confused, frustrated, and highly upset customers and handle large sums of money.
Within the office setting, normal workplace conditions prevail. Incumbents must be able to perform several job duties within several different units possibly in the same day. The incumbent must be able to work faster with minimal notice to assist when staffing shortages occur and various scheduled hours. Private means of transportation may be required. Overtime work may be required.
One (1) or more years of office administrative experience that included significant public contact.
Preferred QualificationsSpecial Requirements
The incumbent will serve customers promptly and efficiently while maintaining the minimum production level of 3+ transactions per hour with a 1% or less error rate. The incumbent will be proficient in license or registration. The incumbent will be proficient in 2 or more of the job duties referenced on the matrix for aminimum of 4 months showing proficiency. These requirements will be scrutinized by the respective department and supervising managers.
