Overview
GovCIO is currently hiring a Technical Instructional Developer to assist with creating training materials and facilitating training for the Department of VA Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) Readiness and Employment System (RES). This position will be in the United States and will be fully remote.
ResponsibilitiesThe Technical Instructional Designer will be a subject matter expert on the VA Vocational Readiness & Employment (VR&E) Rehabilitation and Employment Services (RES) system. They will build strong functional knowledge of processes supported by the system. To be effective, this individual should be knowledgeable about training delivery systems, skilled in delivering interactive, virtual technical training sessions, highly organized and detail-oriented, and able to collaborate with clients and team members at all levels of an organization.
PrimaryObjectives
- Deliver engaging, interactive learning sessions for clients regarding system functionality
- Deliver high-impact software demonstrations
- Develop functional knowledge of Operations processes tied to system training
- Develop live virtual and/or on-demand training for new system features and functionality
- Facilitate technical training onsite when necessary (occasional)
- Communicate complex ideas in easy-to-understand terms with both technical and non-technical learners
- Maintain subject matter expertise on cutting-edge training methodologies, including live and virtual instructor-led best practices
- Provide best-in‑class customer service and resolution to client and internal team member questions and requests
- Identify and propose training initiatives to improve learner experience, retention, and adoption of systems/processes
- Ensure training library and live training materials are updated as needed to incorporate system enhancements and process improvements
- Actively participate in system enhancement meetings and assist with initial testing as needed to serve as subject matter expert on updates to systems
- Bachelor's with 2-5 years (or commensurate experience)
- 2+ years of virtual technical training experience incorporating engaging, interactive elements
- Ability to convey complex technical concepts in simple, easy-to-understand language
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Strong organization skills and efficient time and priority management
- Excellent verbal and written skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Self-directed and proactive, anticipating learner questions and customer needs
- Knowledge and proficiency in adult learning; ability to create high‑level training courses that incorporate experiential learning activities to meet the needs and culture of the audience (generic and customized); proficient in facilitating professional training programs; ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion
Clearance Required: Suitability for Public Trust
Preferred Skills and Experience- Bachelor’s degree in adult learning, education, or communications
- Software expertise in Office 365 (including Teams and SharePoint) and virtual learning environments (preferably Teams, utilizing a variety of interactive features)
- 1+ year of experience in software industry using AGILE methods
- Experience with Camtasia and Articulate Storyline
- Experience creating 508 Compliant Training materials, including videos
