Environmental Engineer V - Public Drinking Water Program - Limited Service

Overview

The Public Drinking Water Program is seeking an Environmental Engineer who is passionate about protecting public health through safe and reliable drinking water. Whether you're early in your career or bringing years of experience, you'll join a collaborative team of engineers and scientists reviewing and providing input on public drinking water projects from planning through permitting. You'll work closely with internal programs, like Operations, Compliance, Capacity Development, and Water Resources, to help communities implement sustainable, resilient drinking water projects in compliance with the Water Supply Rule.

• A foundation in drinking water planning, treatment, and distribution, whether from coursework, internships, or professional experience.
• The ability, or developing ability, to critically review engineering drawings, specifications, and reports with attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with sound judgment and professional tact.

Duties are largely performed in an office setting; however, some field travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation must be available. Fieldwork may involve exposure to chemicals, gases, hazardous liquid and solid waste, and construction sites during all weather conditions; and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may be required.

Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental, sanitary, chemical, water resources, civil or mechanical engineering AND two (2) or more years of experience in a related engineering field.
