Overview

The Mobile Unit Client Support Specialist will be responsible for daily activities and operations within the DMV Mobile Unit. The Mobile Unit team travels to DMV satellite locations throughout the state. Duties involve the issuance of registrations, issuance of licenses, examination of applications through use of various written, visual and road tests. This is not a remote position and work will take place within DMV offices.

Although the full salary range for this position is provided, new hires are typically made at the salary range minimum.

In accordance with Title 23, Section 102(d), an applicant must agree to be fingerprinted and pass a background investigation to be eligible for this position. The background investigation may include criminal, financial and traffic records checks. Hiring managers will notify applicants who are in the final stage of the interview process of the fingerprinting and background check requirement, to which an applicant must agree to be deemed eligible for this position.

Environmental Factors

Incumbents must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure before the public eye and from telephone inquiries. Due to significant public contact exposure, contagious illnesses are a daily risk. Incumbents must be able to multi‑task and prioritize unpredictable workloads, deal with confused, frustrated, and highly upset customers, and handle large sums of money. Occasional trips outdoors may be required when verifying vehicle identification numbers.

Incumbents must be able to perform several job duties within several different units possibly in the same day, and travel to other offices with minimal notice to assist when staffing shortages occur and during various scheduled hours. Private means of transportation may be required, and overtime work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Three (3) or more years of office administrative experience that included significant public contact.
  • One (1) or more years of experience with the Vermont DMV.
Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with prior motor vehicle department experience.

Special Requirements
  • A current, valid driver's license is required.
  • An applicant's vision must be correctable to 20/40 (Snellen test) in both eyes, with normal color perception and field of vision.
  • The incumbent will serve customers promptly and efficiently while maintaining the minimum production level of 5+ transactions per hour with a 1% or less error rate. The incumbent will be proficient in 5 or more of the job duties.
