Agricultural Input Regulatory Specialist III

Overview

The Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets is looking for an individual interested in becoming part of a team involved in consumer protection in multiple distinct, and complex programs that are influenced by both national and state policy.

They will help implement the Agency's responsibility to regulate distributors of commercial feed, pet food, and dosage form animal health products, fertilizer, lime, beneficial substances, seed and pesticide products sold in Vermont.

The individual will work both independently and collaboratively as part of the team and contribute to communication and regulatory efforts that support these programs.

This position, Agricultural Input Regulatory Specialist III (Job Requisition #55801), is open to all State employees and external applicants.

Duties are generally performed in an office setting, with occasional marketplace or field inspections. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight deadlines and potentially under stress. Interaction with the regulated community, division staff, other Agency divisions or other state control officials is expected. Travel statewide is required. Some out-of-state, evening and weekend duty, as necessary. Conflicting opinions may be encountered and must be managed respectfully and appropriately.

Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years or more of experience in agricultural production or livestock farming, greenhouse operation, veterinary office, environmental, or a related field.

OR

Five (5) years or more experience in farm or agricultural production or livestock farming, greenhouse operation, veterinary office, environmental or a related field that incudes database management.

OR

Three (3) years as a Feed, Seed, Fertilizer Regulatory Specialist II or an Agricultural Resource Management Specialist II.
