Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a Technical Consultant position to deliver services in the Americas for the Rapid Miner SLC product.
Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience in SAS programming, including DATA step, DS2, and a wide range of SAS procedures, focusing on writing, analyzing, and optimizing SAS code for data processing and analytics. The candidate should possess a good understanding of SAS enterprise architecture, including SAS GRID, and be proficient with SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Studio. They should be comfortable working with large datasets, understanding existing SAS code bases, and supporting modernization or migration initiatives from a code and data perspective.
Responsibilities- Perform discovery with customers to understand their existing SAS environment with the key goal of determining migration feasibility.
- Analyze existing SAS programs, working with Product Development and Data Science teams to determine effort/duration requirements for any custom development.
- Determine customer use cases of unsupported language elements and software modules, preparing a ‘route to live’.
- Attend customer stand‑ups and project review meetings and be the face of Siemens’ Rapid Miner SLC.
- Technical delivery of migration projects including but not limited to training customer system administrators on the effective use of SLC/HUB as required.
- Train customer migration delivery teams on best practices for code migration.
- Triage technical issues to ensure prompt resolution, working with L2 support.
- Requirements scoping, defect analysis, and working with Product Management and Engineering teams when required to oversee deployment of maintenance builds/bug fixes.
- Document findings, assumptions, and best practices for code migration and transformation.
- Travel to client locations infrequently as needed.
- 7+ years of hands‑on SAS programming experience, with strong proficiency in DATA Step and DS2.
- Core and advanced PROC usage.
- Data manipulation, transformation, and performance tuning.
- SAS Enterprise Guide.
- SAS Studio.
- Solid understanding of data structures, data processing, and analytics workflows.
- Experience working with complex SAS code bases including debugging and optimization.
- Proficient in SQL and data querying techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into efficient SAS solutions.
- Excellent documentation and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of SLC supported platforms:
Linux, AIX, macOS and Solaris. - Experience with Cloud Computing technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP or OCI.
- Experience with modern analytics or data processing languages such as Python, R.
- Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of SAS on Mainframe z/OS and zLinux.
