Non-Profit & Social Impact
Youth Development, Non-Profit / Outreach, Volunteer / Humanitarian
We build programs to directly address barriers to housing, land, foodways and shelter for populations who have experienced generational and societal poverty. The Land Access and Opportunity Board (LAOB) prioritizes investments in projects and strategies that break cycles of poverty by creating opportunities for disadvantaged communities to invest resources directly into the alleviation strategies that address their needs. LAOB is an entity that seeks to engage systems in better service to all Vermonters.
We are dedicated to creating safe and inclusive spaces in everything we do. Our organization holds the dignity and identity of all who live, work and play in Vermont as important to our values.
Two Ameri Corps VISTA volunteers will provide support and thought leadership regarding three initiatives of LAOB: the Community Resilience grant program, Secure Housing Coach program and the Small‑Scale Developers Training Program. These programs offer technical assistance, community coordination and planning as well as resource generation and distribution. The Community Resilience Grant Program invites communities to work collaboratively towards building local resilience and response networks to everyday challenges and emergencies.
The Secure Housing Coach program, still in development, will provide three housing coaches to help those most vulnerable to secure permanent housing, home/land purchase and equity sharing, including a dedicated coach for the disability community. The Small‑Scale Developers Program is designed to work with individuals, small groups and investors interested in building housing and agricultural options for those with the least access to land and housing.
