Licensed Practical Nurse

The University of Vermont Health Network seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care in our collaborative, academic health system. The LPN provides direct patient care, administers medications, monitors vitals, documents in the EMR, and supports interdisciplinary care plans across inpatient and outpatient settings. This role emphasizes patient education, safety, and quality improvement while working with advanced medical technology and diverse teams to serve communities in Vermont and northern New York.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct bedside and clinic-based nursing care under RN/physician supervision
• Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and protocols
• Monitor, document, and report patient status, vitals, and responses to interventions
• Perform wound care, specimen collection, and basic diagnostic support
• Document care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Reinforce patient and family education on diagnoses, medications, and self-care
• Support care coordination within the interdisciplinary team
• Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and quality standards
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives
• Contribute to a respectful, inclusive, patient-centered culture
