* Position Summary:

** Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, provides frontline service and operational support in the Nahum Gelber Law Library. Coordinates day-to-day activities within assigned service areas, assists with the training and guidance of staff and student employees, and contributes to the delivery of high-quality user services. Supports access to library collections through circulation, resource sharing, reserves management, collection maintenance, and the provision of information regarding library services, resources, and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*** Provides circulation services, including the lending, return, renewal, recall, and retrieval of library materials, and issues borrowing privileges in accordance with library policies.
* Assists in the coordination of daily service desk operations by organizing workflows, providing guidance to staff and student employees, monitoring service delivery, and helping to resolve operational issues.
* Processes payments and maintains related records, and supports activities related to fines, overdue materials, and user notifications.
* Supports interlibrary loan and document delivery services by receiving requests, verifying availability of materials, retrieving eligible items, and coordinating requests with partner institutions.
* Maintains records, reports, invoices, and statistical information related to interlibrary loans, overdue materials, and other circulation activities.
* Manages course reserve materials by processing, updating, organizing, and monitoring access to high-demand resources.
* Assists users by providing information about library services, policies, spaces, and collections, and communicates with users regarding requests, recalls, holds, and other circulation matters.
* Provides basic research and reference assistance by helping users navigate the library catalogue, discovery tools, databases, and other information resources, and refers complex inquiries to librarians when appropriate.
* Supports the processing and physical maintenance of library materials by receiving and preparing items, applying barcodes and security devices, preparing materials for binding, and carrying out routine repairs when appropriate.
* Maintains accurate records and files, updates databases, prepares reports, and compiles statistical information related to library operations.
* Contributes to the continuous improvement of service delivery by participating in the development and refinement of workflows, procedures, and operational practices.
* Opens and closes service areas as required, monitors the condition of public and staff spaces, maintains equipment and supplies, assists users with equipment, and arranges servicing when necessary.
* Coordinates bookings and reservations for study spaces, meeting rooms, and other library resources in accordance with established procedures.
* Supports collection maintenance activities by retrieving, sorting, shelving, and organizing materials; conducting shelf-reading and inventory projects; and participating in collection shifts and space management initiatives.
* Uses a variety of technologies and office equipment, including library management systems, computers, scanners, photocopiers, and other specialized tools required to support library services.
* Performs other related duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
