The Opportunity

Join Aviva's Compliance team and help build a strong culture of compliance, ethics and accountability across our business.

As a Compliance Manager
, you'll work closely with business stakeholders, risk partners, and senior team members to help Aviva meet its regulatory obligations. You will provide independent oversight, challenge, and advice while helping Aviva navigate a complex and evolving regulatory environment.

This is a chance to create a meaningful impact by identifying risks, improving controls, supporting regulatory compliance efforts, and helping ensure we continue doing the right thing for customers, colleagues, and communities.

What you'll do:

  • Assist in the delivery and continual refinement of Aviva Canada's Regulatory Compliance Management Framework (RCMF).
  • Conduct independent monitoring and testing reviews to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify regulatory risks, provide practical mentorship and support effective mitigation.
  • Prepare clear and insightful reporting for senior leadership, governance committees and the Board.
  • Act as Secretary for regulatory compliance meetings, supporting the identification, raising, documentation and tracking of regulatory incidents and remediation activities.
  • Support regulatory submissions, supervisory requests and regulatory examinations.
  • Contribute to regulatory change management activities and help assess the impact of evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Legal, Internal Audit and other governance partners to strengthen compliance risk management across Aviva Canada.

What you'll bring:

  • University degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in compliance, risk management, or audit within financial services. Experience with in the property and casualty insurance industry is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian regulatory environment applicable to P&C insurers, including federal and provincial requirements.
  • Experience supporting or delivering frameworks for compliance or risk management.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, capable of evaluating complex issues and delivering practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
  • Experience preparing regulatory submissions, management reporting and governance materials.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively in a dynamic environment.

What makes you stand out:

  • Certified Public Accountant, Charted Insurance Professional (CIP), Canadian Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) designations considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting, claims, distribution, broker relationships and operational controls within a P&C insurer.
  • Experience managing regulatory breaches, control gaps and remediation programs.
  • Experience participating in regulatory consultations or responding to regulatory examinations.
  • Proficiency in French (conversational/professional working proficiency).

What you'll get:

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $110,000 to $130,000
    . Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
