Function

Design technical setups as well as audio and communication plans/diagrams; co-ordinate installation and checking of equipment under your control in line with production needs. Perform Radio Audio Technician duties.

Description Of Duties

  • Develop and design technical setups as well as audio, communication or other plans/diagrams in line with production needs, so that setups can be reproduced or lists of required equipment drawn up.
  • Perform multi-track music mixing to achieve production objectives.
  • Consult with and advise production and technical staff on the best production methods for achieving technical and artistic results.
  • Co-ordinate and guide, as needed, the work of other employees assigned to production, as well as to preparing, setting up, dismantling and handling technical material.
  • Co-ordinate, with members of the technical and production teams, setups and checks required for switching, mixing, sound pickup, recording, public address and audio monitoring, as well as for processing and feeding audio, communication or other signals.
  • Co-ordinate the multiple audio systems required to produce programs or other events involving a large number of sound sources and audio equipment.
  • Review and apply technical plans and diagrams.
  • Plan and ensure the availability of materials, technical equipment or other items required for production as instructed or per standard practice; notify those concerned of any irregularity.
  • Manage disk space by removing content associated with your work, deleting or archiving it as appropriate.
  • Assess technical equipment as needed and draft a report on its performance.
  • Evaluate and ensure technical quality in all your activities and deliverables; take appropriate action if they fail to meet established standards.
  • In case of technical failure, take the necessary corrective action to restore service and inform the relevant people.
  • Attend planning or production meetings as needed.
  • Assist, as needed, in reviewing and/or developing operating methods and technical standards.
  • Produce technical reports by recording information relevant to your share of work and, if applicable, entering it in the appropriate files.
  • Perform site surveys, as needed, to identify locations that meet production requirements.
  • Perform Radio Audio Technician duties.
  • Report any breakdowns or defects in equipment or material to the relevant people.
  • Operate any vehicle necessary for travel or job-related tasks, requiring that you possess the appropriate valid driver’s licence; perform routine vehicle maintenance and cleaning; maintain the vehicle log; comply with all applicable national or provincial driver licensing requirements and regulations.
  • Complete the appropriate forms and documents; share information verbally or in writing to ensure proper follow-up and to keep others informed.
  • Familiarize other employees with their duties and the work environment.
  • Carry out, as needed, all or part of the duties of another job classification within an equivalent or lower salary group, as well as other related duties.

Qualifications

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

Job Requirements:

  • College diploma in TV production and post-production techniques, or other relevant field.
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience required to ensure solid command of the essential skills and knowledge required when assigned to work on location.
