Housed in a former rectory in the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood, Le Livart is a multidisciplinary art centre that brings together a gallery, studios, an artist residency, an art school for children, an event space and a shop. It is also a vibrant space for creativity and connection, where people come together and exchange ideas.

The Conseil des arts de Montréal’s DémART grant aims to provide an opportunity for a professional artist or cultural worker from a culturally diverse background who is a newcomer or first-generation immigrant, in order to facilitate their professional integration.

Le Livart is looking to fill an Artistic Programming Coordinator position. Reporting to the Programming Manager and working closely with all team members, this person will support the department head and contribute to the development and coordination of the centre’s artistic activities. The internship will span three exhibitions in the program.

• Coordinate programming activities and ensure they run smoothly;
• Assist the Artistic Director with her daily duties;
• Take part in exhibition installations and support the technical team;
• Support artists and collaborators in carrying out their projects;
• Coordinate the production of exhibition documentation;
• Coordinate cultural mediation workshops related to the exhibitions;
• If the intern has an artistic practice, the Le Livart team will be happy to explore the development of a personal project with them. The project may take various forms, including an exhibition, research-creation project, workshop or any other initiative aligned with Le Livart’s objectives and programming.

• Good command of French;
• Good command of English is an asset;
• Education and/or experience in visual arts, art history, museum studies or any other relevant field;
• Ability to work as part of a team;
• Comfortable handling a variety of tasks;
• Punctual and dependable;
• Demonstrate initiative and independence.
• Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident on the date the application is submitted
• Be from a culturally diverse background — an ethnocultural or visible minority
• Be an immigrant, newcomer or first-generation immigrant
• Be self-employed — practising an art form independently — in accordance with Québec legislation concerning artists’ professional status and employment conditions
• Reside on the Island of Montréal

The grant includes compensation for the artist or cultural worker in the form of a $15,000 fee for 600 hours, equivalent to an hourly rate of $25.

From Monday, January 11 to Friday, June 18, 2027

An average of four days per week, with five-day weeks during busy periods, including exhibition installation and dismantling, exhibition openings, markets and special workshops.

As part of the Conseil des arts de DémART du Conseil des Arts de Montréal, le Livart supports the selected candidate’s integration into Montréal’s cultural community through the following opportunities:
