Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Opportunity Our client is a growing, multi‑branch equipment rental business backed by a private equity sponsor. With an established footprint and an active growth agenda — including M&A and greenfield expansion — they are building out their leadership team to match their ambitions. As Vice President of Finance, you will own the full finance and accounting function while serving as a true strategic partner to the executive team.
This is a hands‑on leadership role designed for someone who thrives in a growth environment and wants to see the direct impact of their work on the business.
What You’ll Be Doing Owning the full finance and accounting function, including general ledger integrity, monthly close, account reconciliations, internal controls, tax and audit coordination, and timely financial statement preparation
Developing a rigorous monthly reporting package for management and the sponsor, covering branch‑level performance, rental revenue trends, EBITDA bridge analysis, and fleet‑related returns
Leading the annual budget process and partnering with branch managers to translate commercial activity, utilization rates, staffing, and fleet decisions into an actionable financial plan
Building KPI dashboards and management reporting tied to revenue quality, margin, fleet productivity, parts and services economics, and branch accountability
Supporting lender, investor, and board reporting requirements, including covenant reporting, ad hoc analyses, and acquisition or integration work streams
Strengthening finance systems, reporting workflows, and data discipline — identifying opportunities to streamline processes, automate recurring tasks, and improve the reliability of financial information
Partnering closely with the CEO and sponsor to evaluate growth initiatives, pricing actions, fleet investments, branch performance improvement opportunities, and broader strategic decisions
What You’ll Need To Be Successful CPA designation
6+ years of accounting and finance experience, with solid core training in financial reporting, close processes, controls, budgeting, and cash flow management – Canadian tax knowledge is an asset
Experience in equipment rental or an adjacent industry is viewed favorably, including construction services, heavy equipment distribution, industrial services, dealership, or fleet‑ and field‑service‑oriented business models
A systems‑oriented mindset with a track record of improving financial visibility, reporting cadence, data quality, and finance processes across ERP and operational data environments
Experience in a sponsor‑backed environment, with comfort navigating sponsor reporting, performance management, and a high‑accountability operating cadence
Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to serve as a credible counterpart to ownership, lenders, auditors, and senior operating leaders
A hands‑on, practical approach — equally comfortable working directly in the numbers as you are driving strategic financial insight across the business
M&A execution and/or integration experience is desirable but not required
Compensation Range: $120,000 – $150,000 base salary
