Become a BMO Mortgage Specialist and help customers achieve their dream of home ownership. You will receive industry‑leading training and support, and have the opportunity to build and manage a referral network to generate mortgage business.
Responsibilities- Proactively contact referral and origination sources to discuss home financing solutions.
- Assist with implementation of targeted marketing programs, promotions, and other initiatives.
- Search for cross‑sell and upsell opportunities to meet individual sales and profitability goals.
- Support delivery of marketing programs and promotions.
- Seek opportunities to expand network by obtaining referrals from existing relationships.
- Establish and enhance community presence through trade shows, conferences, and related events.
- Serve as a customer advocate during application and processing activities.
- Complete onboarding activities as required.
- Deliver exceptional customer service that builds trust through expertise and responsiveness.
- Guide customers through mortgage application and processing activities.
- Partner with branch teams to hand off customers, finalize documentation, and refer non‑mortgage needs.
- Resolve or escalate issues to meet customer expectations and ensure timely fund advancement.
- Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service to identify client needs for banking products and refer to appropriate partners.
- Stay current on consumer needs, industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements for mortgage products.
- Address customer service issues according to parameters, escalating complex matters as needed.
- Develop solutions and make recommendations based on business strategy and stakeholder needs.
- Provide advice to assigned business/group on solution implementation.
- Support execution of strategic initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
- Determine business priorities and sequence for execution of business/group strategy.
- Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
- liaise with various BMO teams and customers to ensure satisfactory completion of home financing applications.
- Document updates in BMO’s internal systems to maintain access to status of opportunities, transactions, and issues.
- Analyze data to provide insights and recommendations.
- Gather and format data for regular and ad‑hoc reports and dashboards.
- Provide input into planning and implementation of operational programs.
- Execute routine tasks within relevant service level agreements.
- Organize work information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Engage with referral network to generate referrals and mortgage originations for clients requiring real estate lending solutions.
- Complete all necessary transactions in compliance with guidelines to maintain operational integrity.
- Focus may be on a business/group.
- Think creatively and propose new solutions.
- Exercise judgment to diagnose and solve problems within given rules.
- Work mostly independently.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
- Take measured risks while protecting the bank by applying the Risk Management Framework and Risk Culture within approved Risk Appetite.
- Typically 3–5 years of relevant experience and post‑secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Credit qualifications if a Credit Qualifiable job, with associated credit knowledge and skills according to portfolio requirements.
- In‑depth understanding of the mortgage lending process and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Strong interpersonal, sales, customer service, and negotiation skills.
- Expert knowledge of self‑management, teamwork, personal lending, relationship sales, and management.
- Functional knowledge of personal banking, investments, trust services, business and commercial lending, and cash management.
- Strong knowledge of the broader real estate industry and mortgage market.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Specialized knowledge from education or business experience.

You are fluent in French and English as this role supports clients and team members in Quebec.
Salary and BenefitsPay Type:
Commission. Salaries vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications. Part‑time salaries will be pro‑rated. Listed targets represent expected first‑year compensation. Total compensation may include performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other perks such as health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
