Who we are looking for:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Financial Operations, the Finance Officer provides financial and accounting services, budget analysis, monitoring, and reporting support for the Department of Education. The position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial information while supporting sound financial decision-making across the department.

The Finance Officer coordinates and prepares financial reports, budget forecasts, variance analyses, and other financial documentation. The position provides advice and support to staff on financial procedures, processes a variety of financial transactions, monitors contracts and funding agreements, conducts research and analysis, and contributes to the development of financial practices and procedures that enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. The position is accountable for the quality, content, and accuracy of financial information and reports.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, managing multiple priorities, analyzing complex information, and providing high-quality client service in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
  • Experience providing financial and accounting services, including financial reporting, budget monitoring, reconciliations, and analysis
  • Experience interpreting and applying financial policies, procedures, and accounting principles
  • Experience using financial management systems and spreadsheet software to track, analyze, and report financial information
  • Experience providing advice, guidance, or training to clients or staff regarding financial procedures and processes

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
