About the role

Do you enjoy balancing numbers with people? Are you known for your attention to detail as much as your customer-service mindset? We're looking for a Payroll and Human Resources Technician for a 12-month maternity leave replacement to join our HR team and play a key role in payroll accuracy and employee experience across Quebec, Ontario, and the U.S.

Reporting to the HR Manager, you'll be the go-to person for all things payroll while actively contributing to staffing, onboarding, and company culture.

What you'll do

Payroll and benefits

  • Produce payroll for all employee categories and make necessary corrections
  • Process personnel movements (promotions, transfers, terminations, leaves)
  • Follow up on work-related accident files, salary adjustments, and special payments
  • Control mandatory and optional deductions (source deductions, insurances, garnishments, alimony etc.)
  • Produce Records of Employment and support year-end tax processes (T4, R1)
  • Administer employee benefits (insurance, ...)
  • Respond to employee and manager questions about payroll and leave

Human resources

  • Support the staffing process (resume screening, interview scheduling)
  • Welcome new employees and maintain their files
  • Coordinate training planning and organization
  • Contribute to the health and safety program
  • Participate in HR committees and cross-functional projects

Team spirit

  • Organize social activities, birthday cards, service anniversaries, and event gifts (Christmas, Valentine's Day, Halloween, Mother's Day)
What we're looking for
  • Education: DEC in administrative techniques, accounting, and management, or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in payroll and HR administration
  • Knowledge: Quebec and Ontario labour and tax laws, year-end processes, CPA training an asset
  • Tools: Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word); ADP Workforce Now experience a major asset
  • Languages: Fluent in French and English, spoken and written (team based in Quebec, Ontario, and the U.S.)

You'll thrive here if you're: Autonomous, meticulous, discreet, team-oriented, and great at juggling deadlines with a smile.

Why join us?
  • A varied role where no two days look the same
  • A collaborative, people-first HR team
  • Hybrid work model offering flexibility and office connection
  • The chance to make a direct impact on employee wellbeing — from payroll to team celebrations
