The SSE Officer will be responsible for providing safety, security and environmental oversight while ensuring excellence and consistency of safety, security and environmental standards throughout the station's operations in order to support operational output. As well as providing guidance on MA safety, security and environmental policies and SOPs in addition to any legislation as may be set by local, State and Federal regulations.

The job role is related to ground fueling operations performed within the relevant business unit.

Main accountabilities include:
  • Lead by example and provide open, honest, and direct feedback to employees.
  • Promote Safety, Security and Environmental awareness within the relevant station operation – driving the 'Safety and Security First' culture throughout operations.
  • Ensure safety, security and environmental policies are implemented within the station.
  • Ensure the relevant Standards and Policies as described in Menzies Manuals and local legislation are met by Menzies Aviation employees within the station.
  • Continuously improve hazard identification, risk assessments and compliance with the implementation of risk mitigation measures, safe systems of work and controls.
  • Collaborate with local or regional management in developing policies and procedures, ensuring safe systems of work processes are established in order to enhance operational safety knowledge of applicable Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Conduct monthly Health and Safety Inspections and audits as described in the Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Conduct Incident Investigations when necessary.
  • Review station employee injury and incident trends and direct corrective action.
  • Facilitate distribution of safety, security and environmental alerts within operations.
  • Implement and support new Safety, Security and Environmental business tools and processes.
  • Provide recommendations to the Risk (HSSE) Manager regarding the ongoing development of the Station's Risk and Safety System, QA and Security procedures and associated documentation.
  • Implement the station's Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
  • Establish, lead, and support the station Health and Safety Committee.
  • Ensure all Safety and Security meetings are held in line with statutory requirements.
  • Report any breaches of statutory requirements or company best practice to management.
  • Attend weekly, monthly and quarterly safety and security meetings with airline customers and represent Menzies through the airport's Safety Forums.
  • Attend mandatory training imposed by the Company and Airlines as per job role.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by a direct or indirect superior manager.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Legally able to work in Canada.
  • High school diploma.
  • Experience in environmental, safety, industrial hygiene or related field is preferred.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License and DA; be able to obtain and hold all required security clearances.
  • PC literate.
