LEAD, AR TIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE STRATEGIC PRIORITY IMPLEMENTATION (TERM - 3 Years)
Hybrid – Primary Remote, Ottawa, ON
CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA
A strategic priority in the CMPA’s upcoming 2027 - 2029 Strategic Plan is to transform the CMPA into a trusted, AI-enabled partner to its Canadian physician members, using secure, governed, human-centered AI to strengthen the human connection that defines our service model and to deliver more proactive, personalized and consistent medico-legal intelligence and support. To deliver this priority, we envision three pillars of work –
1) building up our processes around governance of technology and AI in order to ensure we remain a trusted and credible organization,
2) ensuring our technologies are robust, secure and AI-ready so that we have the foundation to deliver not only on our ongoing operations, but also on the transformations our strategy will require,
3) new capabilities to bring AI technologies into our day-to-day work – increasing productivity and staff engagement, as well as opening new member services, such as the proactive prevention of medico-legal events, in order to increase member relevance.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Executive Director, Technology, Analytics & Privacy (TAP), the Lead, Strategic Priority Implementation plays a key leadership role as the program-level owner responsible for orchestrating, managing and integrating a portfolio of initiatives (some large and complex) required to advance the Strategic Plan and the AI Strategic Priority. The incumbent is responsible for collaborating with in the Technology, Analytics & Privacy portfolio and liaising across the Association.
The Lead will oversee and be responsible for determining program‑level resource needs for the Strategic Priority, in collaboration with IT Planning & Governance and TAP leaders; establishing program governance structures and forums specific to the AI Strategic Priority, aligned with CMPA’s IT governance; developing project plans and budgets including work plans, communication plans, change management plans, and training strategies, developing and maintaining the integrated program roadmap, benefits realization plan, and high‑level program plans and budgets;
overseeing risk, dependency, and issue management at the program level and tracking and reporting on overall delivery.
The incumbent has overall performance responsibility for managing project scope, cost, schedule, and deliverables, including the application of project management methodologies. This involves implementing project management frameworks and developing resource requirements; chairing project meetings; monitoring and resolving project‑related issues; executing regular project team reviews; coordinating project specific training for project team members; establishing project timelines and overseeing project team deliverables; providing project briefings, and relevant recommendations.
This includes overseeing outside consultants and experts to support these projects.
The Lead will be responsible for effectively leveraging internal and external resources. They will promote project stakeholder satisfaction by establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with project team members, key Directors and all departments involved in the project.
POSITION ACTIVITIES
Planning:
Collaborate with the TAP Leadership Team and key business leaders to define the vision, outcomes, and scope of the Technology Revitalization / AI program, including major work streams and success measures. Responsible for setting and maintaining the overall direction of the program, while individual projects are led by designated project managers and product owners.
Oversee and provide subject matter expertise in areas including project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation, facilitation, and other areas of expertise based on established project management techniques
Coordinate and/or develop program‑specific governance mechanisms (e.g., steering committee cadence, decision rights, escalation paths, integrated communication and change strategies) leveraging CMPA’s enterprise and IT…
