This role has been intentionally redesigned to combine technical sales, quoting, coordination, and sales operations , following the evolution of the business and increased demand within the defence sector. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing day-to-day sales activity while supporting clients, suppliers, and internal teams across the full sales lifecycle.
The Opportunity Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Technical Sales Manager will manage smaller sales opportunities, provide technical and commercial support to customers, and ensure quoting and solicitation processes are accurate, compliant, and competitive. The role requires a strong balance of technical aptitude, organization, and relationship management.
This is a hands-on position suited for someone who enjoys autonomy, responsibility, and working within a lean, highly independent team.
Key Responsibilities Manage customer inquiries and sales opportunities, typically under $200K
Develop a strong understanding of the organization’s equipment portfolio and capabilities
Provide technical product information and prepare quotations and proposals
Support RFIs/RFPs and ensure compliance with procurement requirements
Build and maintain relationships with government and defence clients
Coordinate closely with project management and internal teams post-sale
Manage relationships with assigned international suppliers
Coordinate and attend product demonstrations in Canada
Plan and accompany supplier and client visits, both domestically and internationally
Liaise with suppliers to obtain detailed technical data and support sales activities
Representation & Travel Attend industry trade shows and client meetings as required
Travel within Canada and internationally (approximately 10–25%)
Support demonstrations at client sites and military bases
Qualifications & Experience Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical sales, sales operations, or a related technical/commercial role
Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn complex products and specifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Bilingual English/French is an asset
Defence, military, engineering, or government contracting experience is an asset, not required
University degree or college diploma in Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
Security & Compliance Must be eligible to pass the Canadian Controlled Goods Program screening
Must be eligible to obtain Canadian Government Level II (Secret) Security Clearance , if required
Ottawa-based candidates only due to security and client requirements
Base salary of $80,000–$100,000, depending on experience
Commission structure with strong earning potential
On-target earnings typically range from $98,000–$115,000+
Three weeks of paid vacation, including a December holiday closure
Hybrid work environment (remote initially, transitioning to hybrid)
All business travel expenses covered
