We’re on a critical mission to keep telecom connectivity flowing across Nunavut and Northern Quebec, and we need a skilled field technician who's ready to climb, fix, and problem-solve in some of the toughest conditions in the country.
This is a hands-on, on-the-tower role. You'll travel to sites across our service area to install, maintain, and repair communications equipment. You’ll be climbing towers, troubleshooting faults, and keeping the network resilient no matter the circumstances. You'll be based out of our Kanata office and work closely with our Network Operations and Engineering teams to keep everything running.
YOUR MISSION
Travel across our service area to install, maintain, and repair communications equipment, including climbing towers to get the job done, rain or shine.
Diagnose and resolve network faults through hands-on troubleshooting to meet service restoral objectives every time.
Coordinate with our Network Operations and Engineering teams, and fellow field technicians, to maintain service levels and keep the network consistent across your area.
Carry out preventive maintenance, acceptance testing, and field documentation to keep our network performing to standard.
Follow strict Health & Safety procedures on-site, working alongside contractors, tradespeople, and other SSi staff.
Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, providing after-hours support (evenings and weekends)
as needed to minimize network downtime in emergency situations.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Ability to work safely at heights and in adverse weather conditions year-round, climb ladders at least 28 ft. high, and lift to 70 lbs.
Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunications Technology college diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience, preferred.
Intermediate rigging experience and intermediate experience working at heights.
Comfortable at heights and proven on structures — whether that's comms towers, hydro/transmission lines, wind turbines, or anything else that's taught you safety and discipline while working at heights.
Knowledge of RF and network troubleshooting techniques.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and safety equipment.
