Scotiabank is looking for an experienced Financial Planner to focus on building relationships with mass affluent clients by providing high-quality advice and service within the Scotiabank framework.
Role OverviewAs a dedicated entrepreneur, you will build external and internal client relationships, leveraging both your network and Scotiabank resources to grow your practice. You will meet clients on a schedule that suits both you and your clients, using a comprehensive financial planning framework to help clients achieve their financial objectives.
Responsibilities- Drive investment sales and new client acquisition while adhering to Global Sales Principles, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish business development opportunities with prospects and existing clients in the assigned market area.
- Execute business development plans for mass affluent prospects and existing clients.
- Identify additional business development opportunities and facilitate implementation of investment solutions or referrals to partners.
- Provide client‑centric investment solutions through a financial planning framework in alignment with Global Sales Principles.
- Conduct outbound communications and proactive calling to prospects to stay top‑of‑mind for future opportunities.
- Perform complimentary needs analysis across multiple financial statements, including competitor statements.
- Participate in local professional and community events, delivering information sessions and financial seminars to grow network and prospects.
- Build and maintain a market profile in the assigned area and manage a small budget for independent marketing activities.
- Network with investment industry specialists and cultivate chambers of influence.
- Three years of experience in financial planning and investment sales.
- Mutual fund certification with current CIRO licensing or Canadian Securities Course in good standing.
- Personal Financial Planning (PFP) designation and/or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
- Proven networking, client acquisition, and interpersonal skills, including experience building and maintaining Centres of Influence (COIs).
- Goal‑oriented, entrepreneurial, and self‑motivated with minimal supervision.
- Extensive knowledge of competitive products, market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory environment.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for client and prospect visits.
- Fluency in French and sufficient English proficiency for collaboration across Toronto and other regions.
