General Summary
Provides quality service by assisting customers accurately and efficiently, and develops long‑term customer relationships. Oversees the receiving and paying of money to bank customers, and ensures that accurate record keeping of deposits and withdrawals, negotiable instruments, and other bank transactions is maintained. Performs a broad variety of customer service and sales activities, such as assisting walk‑in customers as well as telephone customers with account problems and questions.
Performs duties, which include selling and opening new accounts, closing accounts, and advising customers on all bank services.
Hourly $16 - $22
Responsibilities and Duties- Performs all regular teller duties, including accepting deposits, cashing checks, and various customer service–related duties.
- Prepares holds on deposits.
- Completes forms such as CTRs, SIRs, and any other BSA reporting as necessary.
- Performs operational duties as required, which may include vault operations, ordering and shipping cash, ATM settlement, researching teller differences, and completing various reports.
- Responsible for opening and closing individual and commercial deposit accounts, obtaining appropriate BSA information and business documents for account opening.
- Prepares all paperwork and assists the customer in signing the documents.
- Strives to achieve sales goals by being a knowledgeable resource on products and services available to customers.
- Answers phone calls and assists walk‑in customers, initiates customer research.
- Processes check orders and closes accounts.
- Processes customer account printouts.
- Sorts daily mail.
- Assists with NSF, non‑post, and collections.
- Assists customers with Safe Deposit Boxes.
- Verifies deposits for credit purposes.
- Maintains customer accounts including deposit accounts, CDs, Health Savings Accounts, IRAs, and other retail banking products.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance and works flexible hours, including weekends (if the branch is open on weekends).
- Full knowledge of personal and business banking products offered and a personal initiative to stay updated on any changes.
- Basic knowledge of all banking regulations applicable to the job function and of all bank policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of general banking principles and regulations and willingness to participate in educational opportunities.
- Skill in communicating with clients and coworkers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Skill in operating computer terminals, printers, back‑counter capture machine, coin machine, and copier.
- Skill in effectively listening to customers and making appropriate referrals.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to perform customer service duties and provide leadership and guidance to subordinate members of the department in phone and in‑person inquiries, customer research, cash and check handling, and referrals to other bank staff.
- Ensures appropriate efficiency, accuracy, and customer service to meet the bank's goals.
- Demonstrates accuracy and efficiency in a fast‑paced environment.
- Functions as a team player.
- Performs any other duties or projects as assigned by management.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum of 24 months of prior banking experience generally expected.
- Cash handling and customer contact experience preferred.
