Americorps Member Position
The Ameri Corps member will serve as part of the Education Department at the museum, working directly under the supervision of the Education Coordinator. Their primary focus will be to support and deliver high-impact educational programming to K-12 students, with an emphasis on equitable access to culturally relevant history education.
The member will play a key role in facilitating Hands-on History programs, field trips, and other student focused educational experiences. As capacity allows, the Ameri Corps member may also assist with community events, adult educational programming, and broader outreach initiatives.
Terms of service include serving at the Ute Indian Museum, an average of 10 hours per week during the service term, for a minimum of 900 hours over the course of their service term. Flexible hours are required, including occasional evenings. Members may be expected to commit to weekend hours regularly. The service term begins September 8, 2026 and ends August 20, 2027.
Mandatory orientation will be held on September 8 and 9, 2026 at the History Colorado Museum in Denver.
Major responsibilities and duties include leading Shavano Valley Petroglyph Tours for the public and educational groups of all ages, assisting with educational programs at the museum, delivering presentations on the Shavano Valley Petroglyphs and related topics, collaborating with museum staff and community partners to expand the reach and effectiveness of programming, participating in professional development opportunities, and contributing to History Colorado's community engagement and storytelling projects.
