Representative Payee Compliance Specialist

Community Options, Inc. (COI) is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and ethical Representative Payee Compliance Specialist to oversee and monitor the financial well-being and personal‑needs resources of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This position plays an important role in ensuring client funds are managed responsibly, accurately, and in accordance with Social Security Administration requirements, applicable regulations, and COI policies and procedures.

The Representative Payee Compliance Specialist is responsible for reviewing and auditing client financial records, monitoring Social Security benefits and resource levels, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate financial documentation. The position oversees True Link cards, ABLE accounts, and other financial resources; verifies appropriate use of client funds and purchased items; conducts quarterly and as‑needed financial audits; and prepares accurate and timely reports for the Social Security Administration.

The Specialist also assists with Social Security benefit applications and communicates professionally with families, guardians, outside Representative Payees, program supervisors, and agency staff regarding client financial needs and compliance requirements.

This position regularly interacts with clients to understand individual spending needs, financial goals, and preferences and works collaboratively with program staff to ensure clients have appropriate access to their resources. The Specialist also provides guidance and training to staff regarding financial protocols, compliance expectations, documentation, and best practices. Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, confidentiality, organization, and the ability to independently identify concerns and develop solutions are essential to success in this role.

A high school diploma or GED is required. One year of experience in financial management, auditing, compliance, or a related field is preferred, as is experience supporting individuals with IDD and knowledge of Social Security Administration requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn financial management systems are expected. A valid Colorado driver's license and driving record acceptable to COI's insurance carrier are required.

The Representative Payee Compliance Specialist reports to the Assistant Director of Finance and has no supervisory responsibilities. This position requires regular, reliable in‑office attendance, professional communication, strong ethical standards, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all applicable pre‑employment requirements.
