River Valley Family Health Centers is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team in Montrose, Colorado. Not certified? We will train and help certify the right candidate!

The Pharmacy Technician supports the clinical and operational functions of the community clinic by assisting the pharmacy team in the safe, efficient, and compliant handling of medications. This role plays a critical part in medication access and affordability initiatives, including optimization of River Valley's 340B Drug Pricing Program. The Pharmacy Technician ensures accurate medication dispensing workflows, supports inventory control, coordinates patient medication assistance, and helps maintain regulatory compliance to enhance patient care outcomes.

Working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician performs a wide range of technical duties, including preparing and processing medication orders, coordinating refill requests, documenting medication histories, reconciling inventory, and more.

The Pharmacy Technician position is a part-time position; 30 hours per week. We are a growing, exciting place to work, serving our community in a variety of ways. Come join our team!

A day in the life of a Pharmacy Technician includes:

  • Assisting the Pharmacist in filling prescription items.
  • Taking inventory, ordering, labeling, and stocking of inventory.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to other staff, patients, and their families.
  • Entry of prescriptions and refills, distribution of medications to the customer, and uses the point of sale to complete transactions.
  • Providing health related education to clients and their families including basic medication instructions, how to get refills, how to transfer medications, and explaining general pharmacy workflows to patients.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to meet insurance liability requirements.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with patients, staff members, insurance entities and others.
  • Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity when working with individuals and groups of diverse racial, ethnic, economic, and social backgrounds.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge required with the ability to learn and use electronic medical records, timekeeping, communications, etc.
  • Ability to work at any location as needed, and to travel to training or meetings outside of the service area.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills while conversing with patients, families, health professionals and insurance companies.
  • Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours meet job requirements.
  • Candidates are preferred to be able to read, write, and speak in Spanish, due to the population of patients that we serve.

This position requires long periods of standing and walking, sitting at a computer, the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds, etc.…
