Medical Technologist

Position: Medical Technologist - Days
Position Overview:

Performs various chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Applies techniques used in the field of blood banking, hematology, serology, chemistry and morphological examinations. Records test results, quality control, remedial action and may also engage in research.

Essential Functions:

a) Responsible for performance of laboratory procedures and reporting of test results; monitoring test analysis and specimen examinations.b) Responsible for careful handling of chemicals and infectious material to protect all laboratory personnel: collection of blood and other specimens under aseptic conditions.c) Responsible for care of expensive scientific laboratory and judicious use of materials.d) Responsible for supervising a department, section of testing or shift as assigned.

Must be knowledgeable and experienced user of Vitros 5600. Proficient in sample handling, microwell calibrations, running QC, performing daily maintenance, loading reagents, troubleshooting, problem solving and outstanding customer service to providers clinics and peers. Physical Demands and

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands along with fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

Associate Degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent education and training. Job Knowledge:
Complete operational ability in all lab areas.
