Position Summary

This supervisory position is full-time and requires open availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shifts may start as early as 7 a.m. and as late as 10 p.m. Stores are open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Pay: $20.32 per hour.

Goodwill of Colorado is seeking versatile and adaptable candidates with experience to become our Shift Supervisors. Previous supervisory experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, production, manufacturing, or similar industries is preferred for this position.

Job Summary

The Retail Center Shift Supervisor will be responsible for day‑to‑day tactical and practical leadership of associates and teams across the entire retail center.

Essential Functions
  • Generally responsible for monitoring the whole retail center and addressing immediate issues of safety, customer focus, product flow, and aesthetics either personally or through delegation.
Employee Leadership
  • Manages breaks.
  • Redirects staff or work teams to address call‑offs.
  • Coaches employees verbally and with initial write‑ups.
  • Provides input to reviews and terminations.
  • Facilitates employee purchases.
Task/Functional Leadership
  • Assists in opening and closing procedures.
  • Responsible for the verification step related to the daily sales report paperwork.
  • Responsible for counting drawers.
  • Responsible for making change between drawers and the safe.
  • Assists with inventory processes by counting, entering, and verifying.
Customer Focus
  • Plans, coordinates, and controls the activities of the customer service team to maintain and enhance customer relationships and meet organizational objectives.
  • Acts as the first escalation point for customer complaints.
  • Is the point of contact for turning down donations at Attended Donation Centers.
Cross‑Training
  • Maintains knowledge of store procedures at a generalist level with the ability to fill in for an emergency.
  • Ensures e‑commerce products are processed accurately and efficiently.
  • Obtains and maintains certification on pallet jack, walkie stacker, forklift, hand dolly, or other equipment or tools to effectively move and store donated product.
  • Maintains knowledge to the level where operations can continue in the rare event that no Assistant Manager or Manager is on premises.
  • Job duties may extend beyond the tasks listed and may include additional responsibilities as required.
Qualifications Education
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Two (2) years of retail experience is desired.
Other Requirements
  • Familiar with product pricing, trends, fashions, and seasonal changes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and electronically with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
  • able to obtain certification in all employee positions through completion of on‑the‑job documentation.
  • able to obtain walkie stacker and/or forklift certification to safely operate equipment.
  • able to quickly problem‑solve and make decisions.
  • able to maintain confidentiality and follow Goodwill's policies and procedures.
  • proficient in the utilization of office equipment, office software (e.g., Word, Excel) and web‑based applications (e.g., UKG) to meet the needs of employees and the organization.
  • ability to manage corporate email and calendar (e.g., Outlook).
  • able to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to eight hours per day.
  • able to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.
