Personal Attributes – The New Accounts Representative has a vital contact with customers and thus should possess strong verbal and interpersonal skills, honesty, fairness, high energy level, positive outlook, integrity, professionalism in appearance, and adherence to the company dress code.
Competencies Required- Proficiency with 10 key touch, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn quickly banking software applications (Bankpac, Document Management, Deluxe Order Pro).
- Ability to work flexible or extended hours, demonstrate good attendance and punctuality.
- Customer service skill with effective problem solving, composure, positive attitude.
- Outstanding listening and communication skills, written and verbal.
- Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn banking products (checking, savings, CD, IRAs, safe deposit box regulations) and policies, procedures, regulatory guidelines.
- Self‑motivated, goal oriented, team player.
- Excellent organizational skills, prioritize workload, multi‑task in fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy and detail.
- Read, process, understand a variety of customer requests accurately and efficiently in compliance with bank policy.
- Expected to be aware of risk within the area, observe policies, procedures, laws, regulations, risk limits, recognize violations and report appropriately.
- Major emphasis on New Accounts Representative with customer service and backup teller duties as needed.
- Assist with loan processing duties as needed.
- Greet customers and open various bank accounts including safe deposit boxes.
- Process transactions related to IRA’s, CDs, and other banking accounts; issue debit cards; review/audit department work.
- Balance credit card cash advances; process check orders; review imaged paperwork from Account Folio.
- Inventory department supplies; responsible for general mail and overnight mail logs.
- Inventory and audit official check and money order stock supply.
- Quickly learn and understand legal documents such as POA’s and trust documents.
- Balance safe deposit boxes, negotiable collateral, Metro Advantage Report and IOLTA report.
- Assist with review and completion of annual IRA required minimum distributions and related tax forms.
- Assist with annual mailing of safe deposit box statements and logging payments.
Requires sitting for a period of time, some walking and lifting (customer files, supplies).
Minimum Qualifications / Experience1‑3 years customer service or banking experience;
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
