As a Precision Manual Machinist, you will play a critical role in the repair and overhaul of large-scale industrial vacuum pumps and compressors. You will utilize your expertise in manual machining to ensure high-precision components meet exact specifications, directly contributing to the reliability and efficiency of mission-critical industrial equipment.
About the RoleAs a Precision Manual Machinist, you will play a critical role in the repair and overhaul of large-scale industrial vacuum pumps and compressors. You will utilize your expertise in manual machining to ensure high-precision components meet exact specifications, directly contributing to the reliability and efficiency of mission-critical industrial equipment.
Responsibilities- Perform complex setups and operations on large vertical and horizontal lathes to restore industrial pump components.
- Interpret intricate blueprints and technical drawings to achieve tolerances as tight as .0005”.
- Select optimal cutting tools, speeds, and feeds to ensure superior surface finishes and dimensional accuracy.
- Execute safe rigging and lifting of heavy components using overhead cranes to facilitate efficient repair workflows.
- Operate forklifts safely within the machine shop to manage material flow and equipment staging.
- Perform in-process inspections using micrometers, vernier calipers, and dial indicators to ensure quality compliance.
- Collaborate with the team to disassemble, rebuild, and reassemble large-scale mechanical systems.
- Adhere to rigorous safety protocols and quality management system standards in all daily tasks.
- 3+ years of professional experience as a machinist or machine operator.
- Demonstrated proficiency in reading and interpreting complex mechanical blueprints.
- 1+ year of hands-on experience operating king-style boring mills or vertical turret lathes (VTL).
- Strong command of precision measuring tools, including bore gauges, height gauges, and micrometers.
- Ability to perform unit conversions and apply standard problem-solving methodologies.
- Completion of a formal machining certification or relevant technical education.
- Advanced experience with manual machining on Cincinnati or King brand equipment.
- Proven track record of managing in-process offsets and complex tool changes.
