Join an Estimating department of 5 people, everybody is focused on getting the job done efficiently and accurately. No office politics and clear structure.
Progression;The team is currently compiled of 2 Jr Estimators, 2 Estimators and 1 Chief Estimator. Chief Estimator is set to retire in the next 2/3 years and the Sr Estimator will be their right hand getting ready to step into their position when ready.
Scope of work;A boutique heavy civil construction business focusing on bridgework, highway maintenance and paving projects. They have an exciting 5 years growth plan opening up opportunity for further progression and different scopes of work. They use HCSS HB & HJ.
Flexibility;A very family orientated company, once you earn your stripes, there are conversations to be had regarding flexible working.
- 10 years of Estimating experience for civil construction projects utilizing HCSS Heavy bid, Heavy Job, Bluebeam and Microsoft office.
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of local contractors, clients and suppliers.
- Experience managing a Jr Estimator is preferred but not a must.
- Mentor junior estimators and preconstruction staff.
- Lead estimate review meetings and bid strategy discussions.
- Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and executives during handoff meetings.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating department.
- Maintain historical cost databases and estimating benchmarks.
- Lead the full estimating lifecycle from bid solicitation through final proposal submission.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, schedules, and contract documents.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for heavy civil scopes
